Behind Swing Genius stands a passionate duo united by a shared vision: to revolutionize golf improvement through spatial computing technology and community-driven innovation. This isn't an app created by a large corporation. Swing Genius is the labor of love of two friends who’ve known each other since high school, combining their unique skills and experiences to bring this dream to life.
Nick's journey with virtual reality began in 2012 when, as a high school sophomore, he backed the Oculus Rift Kickstarter. This early exposure ignited a passion that would shape his career. From building a full-motion VR racing simulator in his basement for the high school science fair to working on industry-leading XR and Virtual Production projects at Magnopus in Los Angeles for over 7 years, Nick's expertise in spatial computing has been honed over more than a decade.
Thomas's path to Swing Genius was paved with golf balls and scorecards. An avid golfer living in Dallas, he found himself trapped in a cycle of conflicting advice and minimal progress despite investing countless hours and resources in lessons, books, and videos.
In January 2023, these two paths converged when Thomas reached out to Nick with an idea: What if they could use XR technology to visualize and practice the perfect golf swing? This concept immediately resonated with Nick, who saw it as an opportunity to apply his years of XR prototyping and technical design experience to solve a very tangible real-world problem.
Together, they began prototyping what would become Swing Genius. Nick's expertise with the Meta Quest Pro and its mixed reality capabilities proved invaluable as they developed the early concept of Swing Genius. Thomas, drawing from his frustrating experiences with traditional golf instruction, provided crucial insights into the challenges faced by golfers trying to improve their swings.
Throughout the development process of Swing Genius’ Spatial Blueprint & Motion Replay systems, Thomas experienced a significant improvement in his own golf game, finally breaking 90 on the course - a long-standing goal that had previously eluded him. This early success validated the potential of their app to make a real difference in people's golfing journeys.
Every feature, every line of code, and every design decision in Swing Genius comes directly from Nick and Thomas. There's no large development, product design, or marketing teams - just two friends pouring their hearts and souls into creating something they believe will truly help golfers improve and push the boundaries of what spatial computing technology is capable of.
When you use Swing Genius, you're not just interacting with an app. You're experiencing the culmination of Nick's XR technical design expertise and Thomas's golfing passion. You're benefiting from countless late nights, iterative improvements, hundreds of hours of real-world testing, and the genuine desire of two individuals to make a positive impact on the golfing community.
We - Nick and Thomas - are thrilled to share Swing Genius with you. We're not just the creators; we're also avid users, constantly refining and improving the app based on our own experiences and your valuable feedback. We're on this journey with you, and we can't wait to see how Swing Genius helps you transform your golf game.
